Barnes Area Historical Association, Inc.  Cookbook-  A Taste of HistoryOur Barnes  Area Historical Association, Inc.’s  cookbook, “A Taste of History” has finally been completed after quite a few years of work. We had a very dedicated and hardworking Cookbook Committee that collected, reviewed, selected, and even rewrote, over 900 recipes. The Committee was charged with picking out the best examples of what  we wanted  in our book and then the recipes were typed, making sure the recipes were correct and all were formatted in the same way. Some difficult decisions had to be made as to what  to put in the book, as there were so many recipes, with multiple submissions in some cases.

Besides all of the many  individual submissions, Lu Peet’s “The Barnes  Blog News” and Julie Friermood’s “Barnes  Notes and News” were some of the best sources  for these great recipes. Old cookbooks such  as “HCE-The  Best from Bayfield County Cooks”,  “Barnes  Homemakers Favorite Recipe Cookbooks” and “Suburban Cookie Book-VFW Auxiliary Post 8329-1951”, were also great sources.

Our cook book contains sections on Appetizers and Beverages; Soups and Salads;  Vegetables and Side Dishes; Main  Dishes; Breads  and Rolls; Desserts; Cookies and Candy;  and This and That.  The book also contains many  helpful hints and other cooking information. We thank everyone who supported this successful effort in so many  different ways.
